What is the months calculator?
The Month Calculator is a tool to perform calculations related to months. It is used to find the number of months between 2 dates or to find the date by adding or subtracting months.
The main functions of Months Calculator:
- Calculate Months Between Dates: This function allows you to find out how many months exist between two specific dates. This is useful for planning any of your events or to understand the duration.
- Add Months to a Date: Select any specific date and enter the number of months in the input field to add to a specific date. On clicking the button the calculator will display the exact date.
- Subtract Months from a Date: Similar to adding months, this function allows you to specify a date and the number of months to subtract, giving you a result date below.

How to use months calculator?
To get the calculator go to the home page and open it. At the top, you will see a dropdown menu labeled “Select Operation Type” option. Click on it and choose one of the following options:
- Between dates: To calculate the number of months between two specific dates.
- Add months: This is to find out the date that is obtained you by adding a certain number of months to a specific date.
- Subtract months: Similar to adding months, subtracting a certain number of months from a particular date gives you the date you get.
1: Input fields– For “Between dates”:
- Start date: The calculator will automatically set this to the current date, but you can change it by clicking on the date selector and choosing another date.
- End Date: This field will show you a default value of 15 months from the current date, which you can also change.
2: For “Add Months” and “Subtract Months”:
- Current Date: The calculator is set to the current date by default, which you can modify.
- Number of Months: The input box is set to
0by default, but you can enter any number up to 6 digits. - Error Message: Make sure this limit is not exceeded; an error message will appear if you try to enter more than 6 digits.
3: Calculate:
After entering the required values, click the Calculate button. The result will appear in large font below. You will see two pieces of information:
- The result value, which shows the number of months between the selected dates or the resulting date after adding/subtracting months.
- A description explaining the calculation, for example, “Number of months between selected dates” or “Date after adding X months”.
Example:
The following dates are for example:
- Between Dates: Set the start date to January 1, 2022 and the end date to June 1, 2023. Click Calculate to see that there are 17 months between these dates.
- Adding months: Select “Add months”, set the date to December 1, 2023, and enter
3in the Month field. Clicking Calculate will show that the resulting date is March 1, 2024. - Subtract months: Select “Subtract months”, enter
2in the Month field, and set the date to May 1, 2024. After calculating, it will show March 1, 2024 as the result.
Note: If the calculator does not work as expected, make sure the input values are valid and within the specified limits. If an error message about exceeding the digit limit appears, reduce the number in the months input to a maximum of 6 digits.
